Large and small mixed-media paintings reflecting Kerr's interest in the precarious relationship we have with nature and the histories of encounter, exchange, depletion and survival that our environments tell. Inspired by patterns in nature, social connections, and the endemic and native flora and fauna in and around the Wellington region.

Gouache paintings inspired by Chinoiserie and Ikebana where the flora and fauna depicted in the paintings reference the gardens and aviaries of Kerr's grandmother and great-aunt. Abundant with peony roses, camellias, dogwoods, cherry and plum blossom, magnolias and creeping-jew-plants. These works, honour the women from her past who had a strong sense of the beauty of the world and their place in it.

Large gouache paintings inspired by Chinoiserie and Ikebana with a subtle yet pervasive metaphor about the effect of human interaction on the natural world.
Strong compositional emphasis on of negative white space (Ma) and the related Eastern flattening of the picture plane to create works that are simultaneously calm yet filled with tension.
